Go Big or Go Home

(Newswire.net — October 28, 2016) — What do you like to do on vacation? For some, taking time off is all about having the chance to kick back and relax, spending the day doing nothing at all, but for others, so much empty time would be a vacation wasted. These adventure seekers want to spend their out of office time pursuing the next big thrill.

If you’re hoping to catch some waves of pure adrenaline during your upcoming vacation, there are plenty of possibilities – so check your bucket list and buckle up! Here are four vacation adventures you don’t want to miss!

Better Than a Horse

Horses are like the Toyota Corollas of the animal world – sturdy, reliable, and just about everywhere. So if you’re hoping to spend some time connecting with the natural world on your next trip, skip the horseback nature tours and opt for a Sahara trek by camel.

Riding a camel is a lot like riding a horse in some ways, namely that it’s another large, four-legged beast, but otherwise a rather different experience. Also, as proven on the television show Bones, children are very impressed if you tell them you once rode on a camel.

Get Higher

There are a lot of different ways you can take to the skies while on vacation – you can fly to your destination, go on a hot air balloon ride, or even go skydiving. But have you ever considered going parasailing? Parasailing is a great vacation activity because it requires very little knowledge – you just sign up to be towed by a boat and suddenly you’re aloft.

A typical parasailing jaunt lasts about ten minutes and you can go it alone or with a friend or family member. Once tethered to the parachute, you’ll then rise to between 400 and 500 feet during the ride, gaining incomparable views of your destination. Think of parasailing like hang gliding, except you get all of the thrill with none of the skill. Bonus: You can parasail almost anywhere with a large body of water, including Sydney, Australia and Phuket, Thailand.

Superb Snorkeling

Upon initial consideration, snorkeling may seem like an awfully tame adventure for most thrill seekers, but we’re not recommending you drop in on some tidal pools in Cancun or even the sunny beaches in Cape Verde. No, for a great snorkeling expedition, make the destination a thrill and head to Iceland. It will be cold, of course – your skin will feel numb – but the water is an astounding crystal blue.

If the chill gets to be too much for you, you can also head to the Blue Lagoon in Reykjavik, a local hot spring, or just detour there on your way to the airport. It’s a short ride and, though lovely, the Blue Lagoon isn’t going to set off your adventure alert.

Famous Footsteps

Lawrence of Arabia was probably one of the greatest adventurers of all time, up there with Marco Polo and Ibn Battuta, so why not head to Jordan to check out what Lawrence raved about? Jordan’s Wadi Rum region is colored with deep red and yellow sandstone formations and the trail is packed with hidden canyons. It’s not an easy path, but if you press on, you’ll eventually reach the Burdah Bridge, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of your surroundings.

A relaxing vacation is fine if that’s what you’re into, but eventually, all of those summer beaches blur together. This year, create vacation memories that will last a lifetime by following adventure’s call – you won’t regret it.
