(Newswire.net — April 20, 2014) Roseland, NJ — Over the last four years, Running 4 Answers, a local 5k race, has donated $140,000 to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, an organization whose founders cover all administrative costs so every dollar donated is guaranteed to go straight to funding new research.
“Running 4 Answers, a race against Alzheimer’s” will have its fifth annual event, a 5k race and 2-mile fun run/fitness walk, on Saturday, April 26 in Roseland/Essex Fells, NJ.
Co-director Carolyn Mastrangelo’s mother has had early-onset Alzheimer’s for 15 years. She is currently 70. Unable to find a race benefiting Alzheimer’s disease, she and Co-director, Barbara Geiger created what they know is one of the best local 5k races to benefit their cause.
“We set out to fill a need,” Mastrangelo explains, “despite the prevalence of Alzheimer’s disease, there aren’t any races that benefit the research of it. The success of this event has made my family’s suffering – and the suffering of our participating families – mean something. Instead of just watching the disease take away the person you love, we are raising money and awareness and working with Cure Alzheimer’s Fund to help them slow, reverse or stop the disease before it even strikes, with early prediction and prevention.”
Running 4 Answers is a CHIP-TIMED USATF-NJ certified and USATF-NJ sanctioned 5k race in NJ and 2-mile fun run/fitness walk. It is also part of the GRAND PRIX series (500 points). Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finishers, both Male and Female. Medals will also be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places by designated age groups for both Males and Females.
