Tom Carnevale Discusses Ultra HD Video Surveillance

(Newswire.net — December 2, 2015) Plainfield, IL — Tom Carnevale knows a thing or two about the future of video surveillance. As the founder and CEO of Sentry 360, Tom has been behind some of the industry’s most exciting advances of the past few years. One trend he sees the industry heading toward is the implementation of ultra-high-resolution video surveillance equipment. As video cameras with 4K resolution and fisheye lenses come onto the market, Tom understands that there can be severe limitations to the new technology. “It all depends on the camera manufacturer,” Tom says. “A camera must have the right lens matched to the right sensor, or all that extra resolution is lost due to edge distortion or other lens issues.” He sees distortion as a drawback to both wide-angle and fisheye camera styles, and believes manufacturers have to come up with a suitable integrated solution to make the most of 4K resolution. To learn more about Tom and his background, visit https://www.linkedin.com/in/carnevalethomas.

Another issue Tom points out is the concern about the video management systems (VMS) companies use to control video surveillance cameras and store the content they record. Many high-resolution cameras do not necessarily mesh well with existing 3rd party VMS solutions. Users want to have certain levels of control, and without the camera and VMS manufacturer coming together to figure out cost-effective solutions, the new technology will struggle to gain a foothold in security applications. “4K resolution may be overkill for many applications, but in low-light areas and locations where mounting height is an issue, these ultra-high-resolution cameras can make a huge difference in image quality,” says Tom.

Tom’s company, Sentry 360, has led the video security industry with innovative new cameras and control systems. The company manufactures a large range of high-resolution cameras with 180-degree and 360-degree viewing capabilities. “We take seriously the belief that in order to succeed, video surveillance technologies must be approached with care,” he adds. “Devising a complete solution by balancing software engineering, design, and component development is how our company has risen to the top of the industry.” To learn more about Tom Carnevale, visit http://security-today.com/Articles/2013/09/01/Out-of-the-Basement.aspx.
