(Newswire.net — February 27, 2018) — The new book for real estate developers, “Yes Vote: The Public Hearing Plan for Developers” answers the question many project managers ask: How to overcome opposition?

If opponents are making up slurs and spreading misinformation about the project, and there is concern that their shenanigans will affect its chances at getting approval at an upcoming public hearing, there are actions developers can take. “Yes Vote” outlines these actions in detail.

Katie Coates, consultant and author, has worked with developers for more than 20 years and has helped clients get approval at dozens of public hearings at the city council and planning commission level and regional and state agencies.

“In working with clients to get a Yes Vote at their public hearings, I’ve heard it all,” Katie says. “Project opponents make the most outrageous claims, saying things like the project will cause brain cancer to the entire quadrant of the city it’s planned for, destroy the historic area, or clog streets with so much traffic the city will be unlivable,” she explains.

She also recounts instances when opponents have made slurs against the developers themselves; they said the developer was a “carpetbagger” who was “just in it for the money” and he didn’t care about the community, the outcome, or the consequences. Furthermore, they said the developer was an irresponsible, money-grubbing industrialist who probably owned sweatshops and had every intention of leaving the community with a steaming pile of detritus while he laughed all the way to the bank.

Katie helps her clients achieve success by finding supporters, overcoming opposition and communicating with the decision makers.
