Emerging Study Now Suggests Smokers With Low Muscle Mass Are Likelier to Die

(Newswire.net — June 14, 2018) Orlando, FL — Health experts have long been warning consumers against the dangerous effects of smoking. This is due to the fact that the mortality rate linked with its use continues to increase.

New research reveals that a loss in chest muscle mass is highly indicative of a higher death risk in smokers.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has even reported that smoking cigarettes is the top cause, not just of preventable disease, but also death in the United States.

In the United States, about 36.5 million people continue to smoke. This unhealthy habit has also been found to be responsible for over 480,000 deaths annually.

Scientists further revealed that another 16 million live with a medical condition related to smoking.

The findings of this new study were presented at the American Thoracic Society 2017 Conference.

Dr. Alejandro A. Diaz, instructor in medicine at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA, spearheaded the study.

This new study tried to examine the link between lower muscle mass and high mortality in smokers who are not suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

COPD makes it difficult for patients to get air out of the lungs. Such an airflow obstruction leads to tiredness or even shortness of breath. This triggers the lungs to work harder during breathing.

The study also suggests that premature death is more likely for smokers with less chest muscle, whether or not they have COPD.

Smoking has long been highly discouraged due to the undesirable health effects it causes. Many of the smoking population are men. Health experts strongly advise to not just avoid smoking, but also take better care of lung health.

This may be made by nourishing the body with certain nutrients. There is a wide range of nutrients that produce health-enhancing, disease-fighting effects. These nutrients can be found in food or supplements.

Some researchers suggest that the lack of minerals may remove the lung’s protection from conditions like COPD. Such deficiencies may even disrupt lung function.

The good news is that there are supplements like Divine Bounty Men’s Multivitamins. This formula may be helpful in nourishing men with nutrients, and helping them satisfy their unique nutritional needs.
