(Newswire.net — July 19, 2018) Phoenix, AZ — South Mountain Community College in Phoenix will be the site of the 6th Annual ‘Phoenix Tools 4 School’ event hosted by Phoenix based non-profit The Checkered Flag Run Foundation. The event will be held on Saturday, July 28, from 7 a.m. through 11 a.m.

“Phoenix Tools 4 School is open to the public and free to all students in kindergarten through 8th grade,” says Alan “AP” Powell, the founder of the Checkered Flag Run Foundation.

The event is being held at the South Mountain Community College for the first time this year. “Being a part of the ‘Phoenix Tools 4 School’ event has been an amazing opportunity to gain insight on the needs of our community, especially the students. It is troubling to know students go to school each year without any supplies,” says 2018-2019 Chair of Student Governance Board at South Mountain Community College, Adrian M. Trujillo. “Helping to provide these basic utilities for their school year is heartwarming because we know that child’s situation will be a little better.”

Church, Hundred Black Men of Phoenix, Maricopa County’s NAACP Branch, Arizona Informant Greater Phoenix Urban League, Flourish Now. and Arizona Black Chamber of Commerce.

The event has a carnival-type atmosphere with games, attractions, and prizes provided by the Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center and The Salvation Army.
