(Newswire.net — August 7, 2018) Orlando, FL — For many decades, health experts have been recommending regular physical activity to stay healthy. There have even been speculations that exercise can aid in fighting depression.

Researchers from the Universities of Bristol, Exeter and the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry conducted a BMJ study.

The investigators aimed at determining whether adding a certain exercise intervention as a usual care in depression patients would lead to significant reductions in symptoms.

This intervention is called TREAD or Treatment of Depression with Physical Activity. It was supervised by a trained facilitator who provided individually tailored support as well as encouragement for engaging in physical activity.

It is worth mentioning that a study of this kind can aid healthcare providers in coming up with decisions in what services can be offered through primary care.

This interesting BMJ study lasted from 6 to 8 months. It involved 361 adult participants belonging to an age bracket of 18 to 69 years. They have also been recently diagnosed with depression.

Findings revealed that those in the TREAD intervention group scored no better than those who only got usual care. The researchers suggest there was no evidence showing physical activity was able to produce mood improvements.

Researchers did not suggest that exercise is useless for depression. Their findings may have provided some useful information that healthcare staff can use in making decisions about which exercise programs must be included in primary care services.

The lead author of the study is Melanie Chalder, from University of Bristol’s School of Social and Community Medicine. It is important to remember that in numerous studies, physical activity has been found to have remarkably positive effects on depression.

In the meantime, many authorities and experts are continuing to promote the idea that exercise has a beneficial role in treating depression.

There are remedies believed to be helpful against depression, and it includes the use of B Vitamins. Particularly vitamin B12, B vitamins have been found to play a role in the production of certain brain chemicals that affect mood as well as other brain functions.

Some scientists even found that there is a link between reduced levels of vitamins B12, B6, and folate and depression.

It is always best to consider what B vitamins can offer in the battle against depression. These B vitamins have also been associated with many other health benefits. Their intake has been speculated to potentially ward off certain diseases.
