(Newswire.net — September 9, 2018) — Former US President Barack Obama said President Donald Trump was “a symptom, not a cause” of what the United States is going through, calling for citizens to go to Congress for the November elections.

“It did not start with Donald Trump, he is a symptom, not a cause. He is just capitalizing on the resentments that politicians have been pending for years,” former US President Obama says referring to the country’s political division.

Trump has benefited from the resentment, fear and anger that politicians have instigated for years said Obama in a speech at the University of Illinois.

Former US President Barack Obama, who attends a handful of public appearances and has an exclusive content deal with Netflix, has been relatively quiet since leaving the Oval Office, Russia Today reports.  In his speech at the University of Illinois, Obama accused Trump of “capitalizing on resentments that politicians have been fanning for years.”

During a speech Obama said that one can tell the moment is different just by looking at the latest mayor news. However, he didn’t mention fake news and staged situations that mainstream news agencies are not shy to reach for.

“The stake is really big,” said the former US President. He warned that the consequences will be even scarier if voters decide to sit on the margins and not vote for the Democratic Party at the upcoming run for Congress in November.

The US President Donald Trump remained silent on former President Obama’s speech. He said the speech made him fall asleep.

“I’m sorry. I watched it, but I fell asleep,” Donald Trump said. “I found he’s very good, very good for sleeping,” the president said.

Trump also criticized Obama for trying to take credit for the US’ recent economic success, marked by record low unemployment and modest wage growth.
