Emerging Study Links Restless Legs Syndrome to Poor Sleep Quality

In a new study involving pregnant women, it was found restless legs syndrome is quite common. It was also strongly associated with poor quality of sleep, poor daytime function, and excessive daytime sleepiness.

It has also been observed that the subjects experienced the symptoms of RLS in a minimum of four times a week. They also reported poor daytime function and were more likely to have high daytime sleepiness.

Scientists have revealed that there was a positive dose-response relationship between the sleep-wake disturbances and RLS severity.

This study involved 1,536 women who were pregnant and belonged to an average age of 30 years. There are actually pharmacological approaches to alleviate RLS symptoms. However, women are advised to take precautions in taking medications.
