(Newswire.net — May 27, 2019) Orlando, FL — Scientists have been conducting studies to explore more of heart disease development and cure. There are also researchers who try to see what factors can worsen the condition.

UK scientists from the University of Helsinki in Finland carried out a study.

The study findings were published in the BMJ journal.

They found that social isolation can heighten the risk of a heart attack for individuals living with pre-existing cardiovascular disease.

In this study, the cardiovascular patients were more susceptible to have a recurring stroke or heart attack if they were socially isolated.

Scientists analyze data from 480,000 people aged between 40 and 69, who were all part of the UK Biobank study between 2007 and 2010.

They gathered information like educational attainment, ethnic background, household income, and lifestyle choices. These choices include whether or not smoked or drank alcohol, as well as their exercise habits.

There was also a series of questions that measure their levels of social isolation and loneliness.

It was found 9 percent of the respondents were socially isolated. There were also 6 percent who were lonely, and 1 percent were both.

They also tended to have other underlying conditions and were smokers. Lonely people, on the other hand, were found to be at an increased risk of depressive symptoms.

Health authorities warn that in the United States annually, there are around 610,000 individuals who die due to heart disease. This equates to 1 in every 4 deaths. In 2009, over half of the deaths in men were due to heart disease.

Still in the United States, coronary heart disease (CHD) is considered to be the most common type of heart disease. It has even been found to kill more than 370 individuals every year.

Health experts say that consumers should be wary about heart attack symptoms, which include shortness of breath, chest pain, nausea, cold sweats, and upper body pain or discomfort in the arms, back, neck, jaw, or upper stomach.

Some of the common risk factors to watch out for are diabetes, poor diet, physical inactivity, overweight and obesity, and excessive consumption of alcohol.

Natural remedies like curcumin have been found beneficial against heart disease. Researchers suggest that curcumin has a great potential to reverse the many phases in the heart disease process.

Scientists found that it works by enhancing the function of the endothelium, which is blood vessel lining.

It has long been known that the major driver of heart disease is endothelial dysfunction. Curcumin has demonstrated its ability to improve endothelial function, which is extremely beneficial for the heart.
