(Newswire.net — July 1, 2019) — Maryland is a state lush with beautiful greenery. Covering 2.7 million acres – or 43%  – of the United States of America’s land surface with forests, Maryland is home to some amazing bike trails. Here you will learn about three different bike trails you must do, whether you live in Maryland, or you are just visiting.

  1. Baltimore and Annapolis Trail

    1. To start, the Baltimore and Annapolis Trail (B+A Trail) offers different areas for beginners, intermediates and the experienced. Totaling at 15 miles, this trail winds through parks, neighborhoods and naturally wooded areas.

    2. The B+A Trail has historical markers labeled from A to Z along the way, which correspond to a book written by a park volunteer called, “The Guide to Historical Markers on the B+A Trail.”

    3. Keep in mind; you will have to bring your bike, as there are no bike rental facilities in the area – however, it is easy to park at this trail. At the Annapolis Trailhead and the Glen Burnie trailhead are parking lots that are not only free but easy to access. So, bringing your bike from your car is convenient. Make sure to arrive early during the summer, as this trail becomes very popular and crowded!

  2. BWI Airport Trail

    1. When you think of airports, the first thing that comes to your mind is probably not a biking trail. However, the Baltimore Washington Airport decided to give passengers a little getaway into nature. Despite being close to the airport, the trail is surprisingly peaceful with a beautiful segment through Friendship Park’s pine forest.

    2. The 12.5 miles of trail is 100% paved with mostly flat path loops, making the trail easy for beginners, those with some experience in biking can still have fun by going counter-clockwise along the trail.

    3. You can easily rent a bike through the rental facility located outside the international terminal at BWI airport for $5. For those who prefer to bring your bike, you can easily use the BWI airport parking.

    4. Much of the parking structure is devoted to BWI long-term parking, but you can use either the hourly or daily parking. The daily lot will run you $12 for the day, but the hourly lot is only $4 per hour. To save some money, you can reserve a BWI parking spot near the airport in advance with Way.com!

  3. Little Gunpowder Trail

    1. At Gunpowder Falls State Park, the Little Gunpowder Trail is great for beginners; however, this small 2.7-mile trail is more for mountain bikers.

    2. Along your quick ride, you can marvel at some of the stunning waterfalls that the State Park offers. In addition to the biking trails, the State park also has areas for swimming, running, horseback riding, fishing, camping and more!

    3. Parking is nice and easy for the Little Gunpowder Trail, with parking lots at the Harford Road and the Bottom Road trailheads and it is free! To ensure for easy parking during the summer, make sure to get to the park early to avoid everyone wanting to cool off.
