(Newswire.net — August 14, 2019) Costa Mesa, CA — New Directions for Women (NDFW),  a nonprofit addiction treatment facility, is proud to announce and welcome Katy Alexander as the company’s new Intake Manager. Katy will be responsible for Intake team leadership, helping individuals and families in crisis calling about addiction treatment find solution, and building relationships with care partners including therapists, interventionists, hospitals, and other treatment providers to serve women, pregnant women, and women with children in need of a trauma-informed recovery program.

New Directions for Women is committed to providing a safe space for all women struggling with substance use disorder and related issues and offers a full continuum of care. Their goal is to ensure women receive the tools and skills to live a life of sustained recovery in a nurturing family-centered environment.

Katy says, “When I first learned of New Directions for Women in 2005, I worked in admissions at a local treatment program that worked closely with NDFW. I felt blessed to build a professional relationship between our facilities because I’ve always been impressed with their mission to help women of all ages, women with children and pregnant women. There are so few truly gender separate treatment programs, and even fewer that serve pregnant and parenting women.”

She has 14+ years of experience in the substance use disorder treatment field. During that time, she worked with many women who personally transformed at New Directions for Women, which allowed them the opportunity to live successful, healthy and sober lives. She says, “When I realized so many women I respected from my professional journey were involved there, I had no doubts when I was given the opportunity to become a part of this amazing team as Intake Manager.”

Katy recently completed a part of the New Directions for Women Orientation called “Life as a Patient” where each new employee completes a treatment experience for one week, including trauma therapy, exercise, therapeutic outings, and meals with the patients. She says of this experience, “I was deeply touched every step of the way. It has given me insight, knowledge and understanding of the treatment program, but words cannot describe the unexpected emotions I felt from personally experiencing the support, love, and care that these women receive in such a safe environment.”

New Directions for Women Executive Director Sue Bright says, “Katy is passionate about helping those that struggle with substance use find their path to healing through recovery, and guiding families by informing and providing resources so they too can walk a recovery journey. I know she is aligned with our company culture, and we believe each person deserves an opportunity to get better, no matter their situation.”
