(Newswire.net — April 6, 2020) Orlando, FL — Osteoarthritis, which affects millions of people today, is a popular subject of research in the scientific community. There are many complications linked with this condition, and they include the increased odds of mortality.

Scientists at Lund University in Sweden carried out a study to learn about the association between osteoarthritis and mortality.

The investigators used population registers studying 469,000 people living in Skåne, Sweden.  It is worth mentioning that in 2003, the subjects were between 45 and 84 years of age and were tracked through 2014.

It has been found that the risk of death from cardiovascular disease increased in individuals with OA compared to the rest of the population.

According to Martin Englund, the longer a person had had osteoarthritis, the higher the risk of mortality from cardiovascular diseases compared with the background population, e.g. if a person had a knee arthritis diagnosis for 9 to 11 years, the risk was 16 per cent higher.

Englund is professor at Lund University and physician at Skåne University Hospital, who led the study.

It is important to stress that this condition produces pain and this symptom encourages sufferers to be living a sedentary lifestyle. Being physically inactive increases the risk of weight gain, which then results in secondary diseases, including cardiovascular diseases.

Previous research studies have shown that one of the contributory causes of osteoarthritis is inflammation, which also increases the odds of cardiovascular disease.

It is vital to keep weight in check and stay physically active. These do not only aid in warding off osteoarthritis and cardiovascular ailments, but also other diseases.

Osteoarthritis is often managed through a combination of healthy dietary and lifestyle habits as well as the use of certain medications. One of these medications is the type called NSAIDs, which are also popularized by the side effects they produce.

The good news is that certain safer alternatives like glucosamine have been found to aid in offering pain relief for OA. This therapeutic compound is widely investigated by the scientific community due to its remarkable pain-relieving benefits.

Glucosamine has been found to exert various mechanisms to produce benefits for individuals with OA. It doesn’t just offer pain relief, but may also aid in delaying the progression of the condition.

This natural healing remedy can be obtained through supplementation, and some of the best supplements are also equipped with other OA-fighting ingredients.

One is VitaBreeze Glucosamine, which also contains methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), turmeric, and chondroitin (https://amazon.com/Glucosamine-Chondroitin-Turmeric-Dietary-Supplement/dp/B00DUMO9X4).
