Dutch Study Strongly Suggests Exercise Is Vital for Osteoarthritis Patients

(Newswire.net — September 22, 2020) Orlando, FL — Worldwide, more and more people struggle from the undesirable consequences of having osteoarthritis. The good news is that some all-natural remedies have been scientifically found helpful for patients.

Martin P.M. Steultjens, a scientist with the Netherlands Institute of Health Services Research in Utrecht, spearheaded a study.

This research was published in the July issue of Arthritis & Rheumatism.

In this study, it has been found that the lesser an OA sufferer exercises, the more their knees hurt.

According to Steultjens, it’s sort of a downward spiral. As people feel more pain, they exercise less, which in the long term leads to muscle weakness and even more disability.

It is worth mentioning that this study is the first to report the logical theory that muscle weakness resulting from inactivity increases the disability suffered by those with osteoarthritis of the knee.

In this research, the investigators had 107 older men and women diagnosed with osteoarthritis of the knee for a minimum of one year. The investigators found that roughly 25 percent of the subjects with disability could be due to the lack of physical activity.

Experts say that physical inactivity is linked with weakening of the muscles, which caused the joints to become less stable and less able to bear their weight.

“This study shows the association between pain and disability. In the early stages of osteoarthritis, patients have pain and, afraid to have pain again, they become inactive,” Steultjens says.

It is worth being warned that in the United States, there is an estimated number of 21 million individuals with osteoarthritis.

It is important to remember that managing this painful condition doesn’t only revolve around the use of certain pharmaceutical drugs and therapies. There are actually other options, such as the use of natural remedies like glucosamine.

This all-natural and cartilage-health-promoting ingredient has been found by many studies to work wonders in offering relief for mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis. Scientists even suggest that this natural remedy may also aid in enhancing mobility of OA sufferers.

This natural chemical compound called glucosamine is widely studied by researchers due to its ability to reduce the likelihood of gradual breakdown of the joint.

It is also worth mentioning that glucosamine may also aid in fighting rheumatoid arthritis due to its inflammation-fighting benefits. Most studies involving the treatment of osteoarthritis recommend a dose of 500 milligrams of glucosamine sulfate.

One formula to consider is Divine Bounty Glucosamine, which has long been widely resorted to by many OA sufferers (http://www.amazon.com/Glucosamine-Sulfate-Supplement-2000mg-serving/dp/B0126ZF0B0).
