The Beginning of the Revival

After the declining COVID-19 infections and fatalities in Egypt, the country resumed international flights on July 1, after they had been suspended since March, as part of the international coexistence plan to maintain anti-coronavirus precautionary measures while maintaining and resuming economic activities. More than 250,000 tourists from 15 countries have visited South Sinai and the Red Sea since the return of tourism and flight resumption on July 1 which indicates the beginning of the revival process of Egyptian tourism.

Efforts of the Egyptian Government

But after Egypt has gained control over COVID-19, new decisions were taken by the Egyptian cabinet in the shape of a new economic stimulus package to elevate the new season of tourism in the next winter season which will be applied from the first of November 2020 till 30th of April 2021. The new incentives include; First, the expansion of exemption from visa fees for tourists coming to South Sinai, Aswan, Red Sea, and Luxor governorates until the end of April 2021 and payment of aids to workers in the tourism field from April until December 2020. Second, the government will renew its approval for the postponement of utility payments for tourism establishments and hotels until the end of next December, Plus overdue payments owed by tourism establishments and hotels before the COVID-19 pandemic have been rescheduled to be paid starting from January 2021.

The Newcomers of the Red Sea

Some small steps have been taken by the tourism ministry to rise again. In Early October of 2020, Four tourist flights have arrived at Marsa Alam and Hurghada international airports which carried 520 tourists onboard which reflect the revival of the inbound tourism action in Egypt. On the fourth of October, Hurghada airport received three flights by Fly Egypt, Easy Jet, and Air Cairo, transferring 423 tourists coming from Paris, Geneva, and Prague. The two airports celebrated both aircraft by offering flowers and souvenirs to the coming passengers and providing the needed facilities by the staff. And more importantly, the airports were very equipped with all the preventive and precautionary measures plus end quarantine procedures after all the health and preventive controls have been applied to all the passengers. While in Marsa Alam airport a flight from France on the Easy jet carrying 97 passengers coming from Paris after the French tourism resumed once again.

World Tourism Day In Sherm El Sheik

On the occasion of the world tourism day on 27 September 2020, the Minister of tourism made a massive celebration joined by 30 foreign ambassadors and their families plus a number of global reports who were accompanied to the city resort of Sharm El sheik were the ambassadors participated in a cycling ride competition where The Cameroonian diplomat won the race, while the German ambassador suggested holding an international cycling marathon in the city of Peace Sharm el-Sheikh.
