(Newswire.net — January 26, 2021) Orlando, FL — Heart disease is considered to be one of the most dangerous conditions that continues to affect more and more people today. The good news is that there are various ways to ward it off.

A research study was carried out and presented at EuroHeartCare 2019, a scientific congress of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).

In this research, it has been found that avoiding smoky environments do aid in protecting the heart.

According to Professor Byung Jin Kim, study author, one should avoid exposure to secondhand smoke regardless of whether the smoker is still in the room.

ByungJin Kim is from Sungkyunkwan University, Seoul, Republic of Korea.

“Our study in non-smokers shows that the risk of high blood pressure (hypertension) is higher with longer duration of passive smoking — but even the lowest amounts are dangerous,” Kim adds.

It is important to realize that passive smoking was associated with an increase in the odds of hypertension by 13 percent. Further, individuals who live with a smoker after the age of 20 are found to be at a greater risk by 15 percent.

The findings of this study have also shown that exposure to passive smoking for ten years or more was related to a 17 percent increased risk of hypertension.

In 2015, it has been found that hypertension produced nearly ten million deaths. It is also considered to be the top cause of premature death on a global scale. It is important to realize that that hypertension is a major risk factor for heart disease.

More and more experts are strongly recommending the use of plant-based compounds in battling with heart disease. It is worth mentioning that certain natural remedies have been found helpful in enhancing heart health and protection.

One of the most interesting natural remedies to consider is curcumin, which may aid in reversing the many steps involved in the heart disease process.

It is worth mentioning that in some studies, curcumin has been found useful in enhancing the function of the endothelium. The endothelium pertains to the blood vessel lining, the dysfunction of which is considered to be a major driver of heart disease.

Aside from enhancing endothelial function, curcumin has also been found useful in working as effectively as a cholesterol drug. The strong anti-inflammatory benefits of curcumin has further been found to be one of the reasons why it is vital for heart health and protection.
