He is a tech influencer for a reason. His exceptional skills in web development and web-based projects make him a tech guru. Today, we have with us the man of the moment, Rishabh Shanbhag.va

Q: Mr. Shanbhag, welcome. It’s an honor to have you among us today. We would first like to know some of the reasons for website downtime.

A: Well, thank you for having me here. I’m overwhelmed. As per my experience, there are six leading causes of website downtime: CMS issues, inoperable data center, poor quality of website hosting, hardware failures, DDoS attacks, and lapses in maintenance. The bigger problem that I feel for website owners is that these problems don’t come invited. That sets you and your business back at least for a few minutes, if not more. It may lead to denting your reputation significantly.

Q: What’s the best solution to keep downtime to a minimum?

A: You need to view the problem from the website owner’s and customer’s perspective. If you find that a website is down, you will get impatient and won’t hesitate to move on to a different site. It creates a negative impression in your mind. But think from the website owner’s perspective. They have worked hard to make an excellent first impression. And a slight snag dents that reputation. Therefore, a website owner needs to make sure that his website stays up with minimum unplanned downtime. Redundancy is one of the common ways to avoid downtime

I would recommend making use of RAID drives to incorporate redundancy. In addition to that, there are several services or actions which can be implemented at the network level such as Cloudflare to minimize the impact from DDoS attacks.

Q: What if there is a power failure?

A: I was about to come to power failure. Power failure is another big reason that leads to website downtime. In my opinion, the best way to deal with this problem is by using redundant power supplies. Creating a cluster of servers can prevent your website from going down. If one server fails, the other will ensure your website keeps running.

Mr. Shanbhag, thank you again for making time to talk to us today. We wish you all the best for your future endeavors and hope you excel in every stage of your career.
