New Report Shows U.S. Alzheimer’s Rates May Nearly Triple by 2060

A new report warns that by 2060, nearly 14 million Americans will suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. It is worth realizing this is a number that’s nearly three times as high as today.

According to Dr. Robert Redfield, this study shows that as the U.S. population increases, the number of people affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias will rise, especially among minority populations.

Matthews is from the CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion.

The study was published online Sept. 19 in Alzheimer’s & Dementia: The Journal of the Alzheimer’s Association.
