(Newswire.net — July 30, 2021) Orlando, FL — Painful and prevalent conditions like rheumatoid arthritis continue to affect more and more people. While it stays incurable, increasing evidence reveals some therapeutic measures in better managing it.

A study was carried out in India and published in the Frontiers in Nutrition.

In this study, the investigators were able to highlight some foods that are helpful in battling rheumatoid arthritis symptoms and progression. These are foods like the canary seed, blueberries, olive oil, ginger, and green tea.

The researchers suggest that incorporating these foods into the diet aids in supporting the management of this debilitating autoimmune disease.

According to Dr. Bhawna Gupta, regular consumption of specific dietary fibers, vegetables, fruits, and spices, as well as the elimination of components that cause inflammation and damage, can help patients to manage the effects of rheumatoid arthritis.

Gupta completed this study together with Ms. Shweta Khanna and Mr. Kumar Sagar Jaiswal at the Disease Biology Lab, School of Biotechnology, KIIT University, India.

“Incorporating probiotics into the diet can also reduce the progression and symptoms of this disease,” the researcher added.

This condition leads to symptoms of swelling, pain, and joint stiffness. Further, it also severely affects the quality of life. When it is undetected and left untreated, it could progress at a rapid rate in just the first few years.

“Patients suffering from rheumatoid arthritis should switch from omnivorous diets, drinking alcohol and smoking to Mediterranean, vegan, elemental or elimination diets, as advised by their doctor or dietician,” Gupta continued to explain.

Some other food and beverages highlighted in the study are blueberries, dried plums, whole grains, pomegranates, tea, oil, and turmeric.

These items have long been studied due to their health benefits, particularly in battling with conditions like arthritis. They are further found to reduce inflammatory cytokines, pain, joint stiffness, and oxidative stress.

Various studies have actually been carried out to explore more of the impacts of food on rheumatoid arthritis. Some experts suggest that certain nutrients found in the healthiest food options are particularly beneficial against the condition.

B vitamins are particularly included in the list. It is worth keeping in mind that these nutrients have long been studied due to their strong medicinal benefits.

In some studies, their use has led to inflammation reduction and this is helpful in cases of rheumatoid arthritis.

Supplements like Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex could be an excellent source of these nutrients.

It contains Choline, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and vitamin B6.
