With the latest announcement, Dive Right In Scuba is inviting serious divers and those with advanced training and experience to enhance their skills and safety knowledge while having fun underwater.

A leading scuba diving gear retailer and provider of beginner and advanced scuba diving lessons in the Greater Chicago area, Dive Right In Scuba always has a full schedule as part of their regular list of events.

Whether local diving enthusiasts prefer in-water scuba lessons, virtual certification classes, or hybrid in-classroom/hands-on courses, Dive Right In’s calendar offers an event to suit any diver’s preferences.

Their first class of the month, the PADI Neurological Assessment Provider course, will be held on Thursday, September 2nd, at 6:00 pm. The class, which is one of the company’s 10 online-based courses, will be held via Zoom conference.

The class mainly focuses on spotting signs of stroke and decompression illness, the two most common neurological injuries suffered by divers, before they cause more serious health complications.

The instructor will hold a virtual classroom discussion that begins with the basics of the human nervous system, followed by instructions for performing neurological assessments. Ultimately, students will utilize the knowledge this course provides when conducting assessments such as the Functional Assessment Screening Tool.

On Saturday, September 18th, the group will hold the PADI Self-Reliant Diver Course, the third of nine hands-on diving lessons and classroom-based courses. Lasting from 10:00 am. to 5:00 pm., students will receive in-person instruction in a classroom setting in Plainfield, Illinois, roughly 30 minutes west of Dive Right In Scuba’s Orland Park location.

After the initial instructional portion, students will put on their scuba diving gear and undergo three self-reliant training dives. This course equips students with technical knowledge of life support system back-ups, air consumption rate calculations, and independent management of scuba diving emergencies, each of which will be used in conjunction to properly plan scuba dives.

All students who successfully complete the course will receive PADI’s Self-Reliant Diver Certification. To qualify for the course, applicants must have logged at least 100 dives, be at least 18 years old, and be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.

The third event scheduled for September is “Exploring Shipwreck Sites at Hammond Marina”, a diving tour to be held on the 19th. At 7:00 am, up to 16 experienced scuba divers will board the 47-foot-long SeaQuest II, a spacious twin-diesel crew boat with ample room for 22 people, and set out from Hammond Marina to explore several shipwreck sites.

Slated to dock back at Hammond Marina at 1:00 pm, divers will have six hours to explore a range of wrecked marine vessels, including the 22-feet-deep Material Services Barge, the 50-feet-deep Luther Loomis tugboat, and the 40-feet-deep David Dows, which is a 265-feet-long, five-master schooner.
