(Newswire.net — August 20, 2021) — Every year more than 200,000 graduates must decide between the GMAT or the GRE to continue their master’s studies at one of the best universities in the world. That is why here I am going to tell you the difference between these two standardized tests and the things you must do to prepare yourself in the best way and thus obtain the required score.

Let us begin!

What is the GMAT?

The GMAT is a mandatory exam that some universities around the world require for admission to master’s degrees in Business Administration, Business Administration, or other management programs (MBA).

It assesses competencies such as analytical and numerical reasoning, as well as the linguistic reading and writing ability of a graduate candidate. In addition, it is carried out by computer.

Structure of the GMAT

It is divided into four sections: the first is analytical writing, where an essay is developed and through this, the argumentative analysis of the evaluated is evaluated. Then there is the integrated reasoning section, in which the person’s ability to understand and properly analyze tables, graphs, and multiple sources of information is assessed. Then there is the quantitative block, where basic math problems will be evaluated, including arithmetic, geometry, and algebra, but with a logical approach. Finally, there is the verbal reasoning section, which examines reading comprehension and critical reasoning for the correction of the evaluated sentences.

Prepare for the GMAT

– It is an adaptive test, this means that when answering the first question correctly, the difficulty of the second will be greater, but if it is answered incorrectly, the next will be less complex; however, there is a point where there will not be any easier or more difficult question.

– Each question must be answered in order to advance to the next and cannot return to an answered one.

– Its duration is three hours and 30 minutes; each category can last between 30 and 75 minutes.

– Each section has a different score, for the case of the quantitative and verbal block, it is from 200 to 800 points. On the other hand, analytical writing and integrated reasoning are measured on a scale of 1-6 and 1-8 respectively.

– Upon obtaining the results of the exam, the score will be automatically sent to five universities previously selected by the evaluated.

– You can repeat the test, but you have to wait a minimum of 30 days.

– It has a value of $ 250.

What is the GRE?

It is a test that measures verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing reasoning. This test is adaptive, which means that the test will adapt to your performance throughout the test. The GRE covers different areas of knowledge, which makes it accepted in more graduate programs and not in the areas of business and administration.

GRE structure

It is divided into four sections: the first is analytical writing, in which an essay is developed and in this, the ability to analyze a problem is evaluated. Then there is the quantitative block, where there are the basic mathematical problems such as arithmetic, geometry, and algebra, but from a focus on quantitative comparisons.

Later, another essay has to be elaborated, but this one evaluates the argumentative analysis of the evaluated one on a complex random topic. Finally, there is the verbal section, where reading comprehension and critical reasoning are examined to complete sentences according to the English vocabulary.

Get ready for the GRE

– First, GRE prep course is suggested.

– It has a value between 150 and 195 dollars.

– It is an adaptive test, which means that when answering the first block of questions, this will determine the difficulty of the next.

– Each section has a different score; In the case of verbal reasoning, it is evaluated between 130 and 170 points; quantitative reasoning between 130 and 170; and analytical writing between 0 and 6.

– Among the blocks to be developed during the test, there is an experimental one, which is not gradable, but those evaluated will not be able to know which one it is.

– During the quantitative section you can access a digital calculator to develop the mathematical problems.

– It can be done in person.

– In the printed format you can focus on a specific area such as biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, psychology, and English literature. If you do, you would have to pay an extra $ 30.
