(Newswire.net — October 20, 2021) Orlando, FL — Anxiety and depression are some of the most prevalent mental health issues today. The good news is that there are actually some remedies scientists found to be particularly helpful.

A study was carried out by the researchers at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.

In this research, it has been found that yoga works in enhancing generalized anxiety disorder symptoms. General anxiety disorder is a condition characterized by chronic nervousness and worry.

Further, the investigators found that yoga was significantly more effective than standard education on stress management for generalized anxiety disorder. However, it is not as effective as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT).

It is worth noting CBT is a gold standard form of structured talk therapy that aids in the ability of patients to identify negative thinking for better responses to challenges.

According to lead study author Naomi M. Simon, MD, generalized anxiety disorder is a very common condition, yet many are not willing or able to access evidence-based treatments.

Simon is a professor in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Langone Health.

“Our findings demonstrate that yoga, which is safe and widely available, can improve symptoms for some people with this disorder and could be a valuable tool in an overall treatment plan.”

This research actually involved 226 men and women with a generalized anxiety disorder who were randomly assigned to three groups. These are either CBT, Kundalini yoga, or stress-management education, a standardized control technique.

Three months after, it has been found that yoga and CBT were found to be significantly more effective for anxiety than stress management.

More particularly, 54 percent of those who engaged in yoga met the response criteria for meaningfully improved symptoms. It is worth noting that in this study, only 33 percent had the same improvements in the stress-education group.

Some scientists are also stressing the relevance of taking certain vitamins for mental health. These include B vitamins that have long been studied due to their brain health effects.

There have been studies showing that intake of these nutrients is protective to mental health, especially against anxiety and depression.

Today, more and more health-conscious and budget-wise consumers turn to the use of supplements like Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex. This highly potent and pure formula has B12, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, and Folic Acid, and is a popular choice among health-conscious and budget-wise consumers.
