(Newswire.net — October 28, 2021) Orlando, FL — Scientists continue to investigate the potentially effective remedies against diabetes, and these include the use of certain nutrients like vitamin D.

A study was published in Menopause, which is the journal of The North American Menopause Society (NAMS).

In this research in Brazil, it has been found that vitamin D promotes enhanced insulin sensitivity. This means that it has the ability to reduce not just glucose levels but also the risk of type 2 diabetes.

It is important to note that some other studies have shown a clear link between vitamin D and glycemic control.  These studies suggest that this nutrient has the ability to increase insulin sensitivity as well as enhance pancreatic beta-cell function.

This cross-sectional study involved 680 Brazilian female subjects aged 35 to 74 years. The investigators aimed at assessing the link between vitamin D deficiency and increased glycemia.

According to Dr. JoAnn Pinkerton, NAMS executive director, although a causal relationship has not been proven, low levels of vitamin D may play a significant role in type 2 diabetes mellitus.

“Vitamin D supplementation may help improve blood sugar control, but intervention studies are still needed,” she adds.

The findings of the study have also revealed that there is an association between higher serum levels of vitamin D and lower blood glucose levels.

Some scientists also suggest that this nutrient could work wonders in enhancing the body’s sensitivity to insulin. It is worth mentioning that this hormone called insulin is responsible for the regulation of blood sugar levels.

Through this effect, vitamin D may aid in decreasing the risk of insulin resistance, which is usually considered to be a precursor to type 2 diabetes.

Researchers also believe that this nutrient helps in regulating the production of insulin in the pancreas. For individuals with diabetes, it is recommended to increase the levels of vitamin D to about 60-80 ng/ml as this aids in keeping blood glucose levels under control.

While more studies are still being carried out to learn more about the therapeutic goodness of vitamin D, its increased intake is highly recommended. This nutrient can be found in eggs, oily fish, nuts, and powdered milk.

It is important to realize that there are actually many health benefits associated with its adequate levels. It has been found particularly found to aid in maintaining the health of your bones, teeth, and joints, as well as assisting immune system function.

To experience its medicinal benefits, it is wise to consider the use of formulas like Divine Bounty Men’s Multivitamins (http://www.amazon.com/Mens-Multivitamin-Containing-Multivitamins-Men/dp/B076MJBC7G).
