(Newswire.net — November 29, 2021) Winnetka, IL — Today, more and more experts are warning that certain diseases may make having Covidd-19 particularly dangerous. These include having diseases that affect lung health. However, in a recent study, it appears the severity of Covid-19 is not linked with conditions like asthma.

A study was carried out by a team of Rutgers researchers and was published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

This research suggests that asthma doesn’t seem to increase the odds of Covid-19 severity.

According to Reynold A. Panettieri Jr., older age and conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, and obesity are reported risk factors for the development and progression of COVID-19.

Panettieri Jr. is a pulmonary critical care physician and director of the Rutgers Institute for Translational Medicine and Science and co-author of a paper published in the.

“However, people with asthma — even those with diminished lung function who are being treated to manage asthmatic inflammation — seem to be no worse affected by SARS-CoV-2 than a non-asthmatic person. There is limited data as to why this is the case — if it is physiological or a result of the treatment to manage the inflammation,” he adds.

It is worth noting that news highlighting the dangerous effects of Covid-19 on vulnerable populations has been dominating the headlines. This has led many, such as those with asthma, to become hyper-vigilant about personal hygiene and social distancing.

Social distancing undeniably enhances asthma control as it involves self-quarantining and avoiding exposure to seasonal triggers that include allergens or respiratory viruses. During the pandemic, it has also been found that people are getting more attentive in taking their asthma medication.

There are treatments like the commonly used inhaled corticosteroids helpful in increasing protection against asthma attacks. It is worth noting that this treatment also lessens the ability of the virus to establish an infection.

More and more studies are being carried out to explore more of the various aspects of asthma. It is important to note that there are some remedies helpful in reducing the severity of asthma or helping individuals with this condition.

Some medicinal herbs like ashwagandha may be beneficial for respiratory or lung health. It is worth noting that ashwagandha has also been found to produce a myriad of health benefits. More particularly, it may be beneficial for immune system health and protection.

There are extra-strength formulas like NutraHerbals Ashwagandha that may be helpful. (http://www.amazon.com/organic-ashwagandha-root-powder/dp/B01GZALWGO)
