A Study Shows Arthritis Medication Improves Signs of Heart Disease

(Newswire.net — December 13, 2021) Orlando, FL — Certain medications for arthritis have long been known for their side effects. However, it is worth noting that there are pharmaceutical drugs used for this condition that is found to be beneficial.

A study was carried out and published in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases.

In this research, it has been found that certain medications used in the treatment of initial signs of rheumatoid arthritis may also enhance the early stages of heart disease.

It is worth realizing that having RA has long been known to at least increase the chances of developing cardiovascular disease by two times. This is due to associations with strokes, heart failure, and atherosclerosis, which is a buildup of plaque inside the arteries.

In the United Kingdom, it is found that cardiovascular disease is one of the main causes of disability and death.

This two-year study was jointly led by Sven Plein, Professor of Cardiology at Leeds’ School of Medicine, and Maya Buch, Professor of Rheumatology, formerly at Leeds and now at the University of Manchester.

For the first time, it has shown the link between the RA treatment and improvements with improvements in vascular stiffness, which is an indicator of CVD.

The study results may have an influence on the treatment of RA sufferers, which affects 400,000 people in the United Kingdom. This is particularly applicable to those who have just started developing the condition.

At the start of the study, the investigators provided 82 patients with MRI heart scans. These were patients who have no known heart issues. The scans have shown the presence of increased vascular stiffness in the aorta, compared to healthy people.

It is worth noting that increased stiffness pertains to the gradual loss of elasticity in the large arteries.

Professor Plein said: “Our research shows that even at the earliest stages of rheumatoid arthritis, there is increased vascular stiffness in people with no or minimal traditional CVD risk factors such as hypertension, high cholesterol, or smoking,” says Professor Plein.

There are many arthritis medications people suffering from arthritis turn to nowadays. The most common are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which have long been known to produce temporary pain relief.

While these medications are useful, they are also known to produce some side effects. There are all-natural remedies like glucosamine thought to be a safer alternative to these medications.

Today, more and more people turn to the use of formulas like VitaBreeze Glucosamine, which is known widely for its high potency and purity. (https://www.amazon.com/Glucosamine-Chondroitin-Turmeric-Dietary-Supplement/dp/B00DUMO9X4)
