Air Pollution May Wreak Havoc on Heart Health

(Newswire.net — December 15, 2021) Orlando, FL — Heart health issues continue to affect more and more people today. Experts have been carrying out studies to identify the factors influential on cardiovascular health.

A study has particularly shown that air pollution may actually increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.

According to experts, fine particulate air pollution has the ability to stimulate the production of inflammatory cells. It is important to be warned this usually leads to inflammation affecting the arteries.

The fine particulate matter, which are tiny particles of air pollution, can have various effects on health. It is further worth realizing that high-level exposure is identified to be a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.

This new research was spearheaded by investigators at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).

Researchers say that fine particulate matter wreaks havoc on heart health by activating the production of inflammatory cells in the bone marrow, triggering inflammation in the arteries.

The findings are published in the European Heart Journal.

In carrying out this retrospective study, the researchers subjected 503 patients without cardiovascular disease or cancer to imaging tests at MGH for various medical reasons.

Data from the U.S. Environment Protection Agency’s air quality monitors positioned closest to each participant’s residential address was used in estimating the annual average fine particular matter levels of the participants.

“The pathway linking air pollution exposure to cardiovascular events through higher bone marrow activity and arterial inflammation accounted for 29% of the relationship between air pollution and cardiovascular disease events,” says co-first author Shady Abohashem, MD, a cardiovascular imaging fellow at MGH.

“These findings implicate air pollution exposure as an underrecognized risk factor for cardiovascular disease and suggest therapeutic targets beyond pollution mitigation to lessen the cardiovascular impact of air pollution exposure.”

There are some other studies suggesting that one of the ways to protect the heart is to avoid poor air quality and reduce toxins inside the body.

It is worth noting that toxins can be found pretty much everywhere from food to cosmetic products to the water. By avoiding sources of these toxins, such as through breathing fresh and clean air, the toxic burden of the body may be reduced.

It is helpful to take the measures beneficial in lessening exposure to these toxins. Experts also strongly recommend having a body detox, which could be helpful in lessening the body’s toxic burden.

One of the all-natural and effective ways to do it is to use Divine Bounty Activated Charcoal, which has long been widely resorted to for various medicinal purposes (amazon.com/Organic-Activated-Charcoal-Capsules-Whitening/dp/B071NZ5G56).
