(Newswire.net — December 17, 2021) Orlando, FL — Today, it is undeniable that diabetes is widespread. Unfortunately, diabetes is not just feared due to its incurability but also its complications.

In a new review, it has been found that individuals with diabetes are at an increased risk of disability by over 50 percent than those without the condition.

According to researchers, disability particularly includes difficulties using a telephone, managing finances, walking, dressing, bathing, shopping, and even eating.

Anna Peeters, a review senior author, says they found that diabetes increased the risk of disability by 50 percent to 80 percent compared to those without diabetes, and this result was consistent across all types of disability.

Peeters is head of obesity and population health at Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute in Melbourne, Australia.

“The results of this study are particularly important in the context of an aging population and increasing diabetes prevalence over time,” she adds.

It has not yet known what exactly causes diabetes to increase disability risk. However, the link is speculated to be due to obesity and living a sedentary lifestyle.

This research was published in the journal The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology.

The investigators further speculate that inflammation linked with hypertension may contribute to disability.

Today, the rates of diabetes continue to soar. It is worth realizing that this disease is not just feared because of its incurability, but also the fact that it could result in complications if poorly managed.

There are various natural remedies found helpful in fighting diabetes, and one is resveratrol. It is worth realizing resveratrol aids in ameliorating diabetes, and this is according to studies involving animals with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

More particularly, in animals with experimental diabetes, it has been found resveratrol was able to induce the beneficial effects of ameliorating diabetes.

Scientists say it could enhance glucose homeostasis and reduce insulin resistance. What makes it all the more beneficial is that it could offer protection to pancreatic β-cells and enhance insulin secretion.

Other studies, such as preliminary clinical trials, have shown resveratrol was able to improve glycemic control and decrease insulin resistance.

In addition to its diabetes-fighting effects, it is worth realizing that resveratrol has also been found to aid in enhancing overall health. It may even work wonders inside the body to produce a range of health benefits.
