The Winners: Chris Oyakhilome Honors Young Leaders at Future Africa Leaders’ Awards 2021

The global New Year’s Eve Service with Chris Oyakhilome offered a platform of excellence for the announcement of the Future Africa Leaders’ Awards 2021 (FALA). 

Currently, in its ninth year, these awards are to honor and acknowledge outstanding leadership, innovation, and passion in young Africans who have displayed exceptional levels of ingenuity and dedication towards improving the socio-economic state of their respective communities, nations, and the continent of Africa. 

Ten outstanding nominees were selected from over 15 million entries, with one Star Prize Winner of the year. 

Chris Oyakhilome is the president and founder of the Future Africa Leaders’ Foundation (FALF), which organized the award show.

Chief Olusegun Onasanjo: “Only Africans can make Africa great”

At the Future Africa Leaders’ Awards, Chris Oyakhilome was glowing with pride and words of praise for the group of elite young African leaders. 

Three other iconic and highly respected African leaders were present as special guests of honor at this year’s ceremony. 

The Chairman for the night, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Onasanjo, told the audience, “We have all it takes in our youth to develop Africa as any other continent in the world has been developed. This is the identification of those who will do the leading. And we are encouraging and mentoring them to do the needful.” 

He encouraged all Africans to be the tellers of their own stories, as he continued to say that only Africans can make Africa great and that among these young African leaders is the talent to provide solutions to the challenges facing Africa.

Words of encouragement from Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan

Another guest of honor and former leader, President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GCFR) took to the podium and applauded the efforts of the young FALA nominees, saying, ”I tell youth to go out and be worthy ambassadors of their community, country, and continent. See it as an honor. Take up the challenge and work towards industrialization and development in Africa.”

The former president continued with his words of encouragement by saying, “Our youths have demonstrated commitment and determination in making Africa proud. I believe that they can do more. They have the strength, knowledge, and intelligence, and they can evolve in all aspects of human endeavors.”

His words of praise, support, and inspiration impelled Chris Oyakhilome’s young nominees to remain committed in their faith, unwavering love, and devotion to serving humanity.

Chris Oyakhilome gives prizes worth thousands of dollars

Another noble guest of honor at Chris Oyakhilome’s New Year’s Eve Service and FALA 2021 ceremony was the founder of ADDI and former African Union Ambassador to the United States, her excellency, Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao, who told the global audience in her address to the nominees, “The world will not move without Africa. We are the richest continent in the world. To the young leaders of Africa, we must all come together and unite and demand a world that is free, fair, and just.”

Following these inspirational speeches by the guests of honor, was the long-awaited announcement of recipients of the Future Africa Leaders’ Awards 2021. 

From all over the African continent: Nigeria, Zambia, Chad, Malawi, Cameroon, Ghana, and other African countries, young African leaders who championed various innovative and humanitarian projects to better Africa were called out to receive their prestigious awards presented by Chris Oyakhilome. 

Each highly coveted award was accompanied by a cash prize of $10,000, with one person being named the Star Prize Winner. He received $25,000.

With great pride, excitement, and anticipation, the Star Prize Winner of the Future Africa Leaders’ Awards 2021 was announced by Chris Oyakhilome to shout of joy. 

He is Nervis Nzometiah Tetsop from Cameroon. Nervis Nzometiah Tetsop is a 23-year-old tech innovator and community builder.

He uses technology to lead positive changes in his community and has impacted thousands of students through workshops and seminars. 

He has guided, advised, and inspired many youngsters on career orientation and opportunities in the future of information technology.

Last year, Nervis Nzometiah Tetsop was the recipient of the 2020 ICT Project of the Year Award, where he said that what he does is not by might, but rather by the vision that God has implanted in him.

He told the audience as he accepted the prize, “My driving force is my desire to see young people grow and community development. In my community, a lot of young people are in need of digital skills, especially in hardware development and computer programming. Our mission is to empower all the people in the community with digital skills that will fit into the latest trends and help build our communities.”

Bringing in the new year with Chris Oyakhilome

Another glorious moment at the New Year’s Eve Service with Chris Oyakhilome came shortly after midnight, as the pastor declared 2022 to be the ‘Year of the Gathering Clouds.’

“This year, the clouds of prayers, faith, and expectations would be full and begin to empty themselves upon the earth,” Chris Oyakhilome announced to great excitement across the globe. 

Reading from various scriptures, the man of God explained the essence of the different rains described by the word of God. 

He continued to explain that while many clouds would gather, the most important gathering would be that of the saints around the world, saying, “This is the year of the gathering clouds, and these clouds would fulfill their purpose.”

Chris Oyakhilome highlighted the fact that the glory of God would be the defense of God’s people all year long. Irrespective of the crisis that will envelop the world, the saints will soar through as victors, he said.
