A Published Study Links Baldness With Increased Risk of Heart Disease

(Newswire.net — January 26, 2022) Orlando, FL — Today, the rates of heart disease continue to soar around the globe. This is fueled many researchers to carry out studies and investigate the condition deeper.

A study was performed and published in the BMJ Open journal.

In this research, the investigators found a link between male pattern baldness and the increased odds of coronary heart disease.  It also indicates that there is no association between a receding hairline and the increased risk.

The investigators looked into the Medline and the Cochrane Library databases for research published on male pattern baldness and coronary heart disease. They were able to come up with 850 possible studies that were published between 1950 and 2012.

Three of these were cohort studies, and this means that the health of balding men was monitored for a minimum of 11 years.

It has been found that men who had lost most of their hair were one-third or 32 percent more susceptible to developing coronary artery disease than their peers who retained a full head of hair.

The investigators found a similar pattern when the analysis was limited to men under the age of 55 to 60 years. Further, there was a 44 percent increased likelihood of developing coronary artery disease among bald or extensively balding men.

Balding men, on the other hand, were more likely to have heart disease by 70 percent, and those in younger age groups were 84 percent more likely to do so.

These studies assessed the degree of baldness through the use of a validated scale (Hamilton scale).

The analysis of these results showed that the odds of coronary artery disease depended on baldness severity. However, this was only true if it happens on the top/crown of the head, known as the vertex.

There have been many studies carried out over the years that have shown some techniques significantly helpful for heart health. It is strongly recommended to have a healthy diet, and this essentially means consuming more fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods.

These are foods that contain nutrients like B vitamins, which have long been researched due to their strong medicinal benefits. Some B vitamins have been found by studies to produce heart health benefits.

What makes them even more beneficial is that they also work wonders in boosting the body’s defenses.

Formulas like Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex could be an excellent source of these nutrients. It contains Choline, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and vitamin B6. (amazon.com/dp/B07414752B).
