Mounting Evidence Highlights Link Between Ultra-Processed Foods and Health Risks

(Newswire.net — April 13, 2022) Orlando, FL — Various studies have demonstrated a link between intake of processed food and a myriad of undesirable health issues.

Two large European studies have shown links between intake of highly processed food and the risk of cardiovascular disease and death. This has led researchers to recommend the urgency of policies limiting ultra-processed food consumption.

The findings of this research were published in The BMJ.

The investigators said further work is needed to better understand these effects. It is worth noting that ultra-processed foods include sugary cereals, fizzy drinks, packaged baked goods and snacks, ready meals containing food additives, dehydrated vegetable soups, and reconstituted meat and fish products.

They are notoriously known to contain high levels of added sugar, fat, and/or salt, but have inadequate amounts of vitamins and fiber. Further, they are thought to account for around 25 percent to 60 percent of daily energy intake in many countries.

Studies carried out in the past have already shown an association between ultra-processed foods and the higher risks of hypertension, high cholesterol, obesity, and certain types of cancers.

The first study was based in Brazil and France and it assessed potential links between ultra-processed foods and the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, conditions affecting the blood supply to the heart and brain.

The results demonstrate that an absolute 10 percent increase in the proportion of ultra-processed food in the diet was linked with significantly higher rates of overall cardiovascular disease, coronary heart disease, and cerebrovascular disease.

The second study has shown that increased ultra-processed food intake was linked with a 62 percent increased risk of all-cause mortality compared with reduced consumption.

Over the years, researchers have been investigating the harmful substances that can be found in processed food. It is important to realize that these substances and chemicals have long been associated with a myriad of health issues.

Aside from food, toxins and chemicals found to trigger the onset of diseases can also be found in other sources. When they accumulate inside the body, they are thought to wreak havoc on the various aspects of health.

It may be beneficial to unburden the body from toxins, and one of the ways to do this is to have a detox. Using all-natural remedies like activated charcoal may be useful in cleansing the system.

Extra-strength formulas like Divine Bounty Activated Charcoal may be helpful. It may be useful in getting rid of toxins that could otherwise increase the risk of certain diseases (https://amazon.com/Organic-Activated-Charcoal-Capsules-Whitening/dp/B071NZ5G56).
