(Newswire.net — June 10, 2022) Orlando, FL — Studies looking into the various aspects of brain health continue to pile up. Experts have time and again said that there are many techniques proven helpful in maintaining brain health and protection.

A study has shown that exercise programs may aid in slowing the onset of memory loss and dementia in older adults.

This study, which was recently carried out by scientists at UT Southwestern, was published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.

“This is part of a growing body of evidence linking exercise with brain health,” says study leader Rong Zhang, Ph.D., professor of neurology at UTSW.

“We’ve shown for the first time in a randomized trial in these older adults that exercise gets more blood flowing to your brain.”

It is important to note that as many as one-fifth of people who are 65 years and older have a certain level of mild cognitive impairment or MCI. Experts warn that it is characterized by slight changes to the brain affecting memory, reasoning skills, or decision making.

In a number of cases, MCI ends up progressing to dementia and this includes a highly prevalent condition called Alzheimer’s disease.

Previously, scientists have shown that when there are lower-than-usual blood flow levels in the brain, it leads to the stiffening of the blood vessels to the brain. This is alarming considering its linked with MCI and dementia.

Studies have further revealed that regular aerobic exercise may actually aid in enhancing cognitive and memory in healthy older adults. However, scientists have not established yet whether there is a direct association between stiffer blood vessels, exercise, and brain blood flow.

“There is still a lot we don’t know about the effects of exercise on cognitive decline later in life,” says C. Munro Cullum, Ph.D., professor of psychiatry at UTSW and co-senior author of the study.

MCI and dementia are likely to be influenced by a complex interplay of many factors, and we think that, at least for some people, exercise is one of those factors.”

Exercise is undeniably a popular subject of research due to its relevance to the various aspects of health.

It is worth noting that sedentariness has been time and again found to increase the odds of having certain health issues. Engaging in physical activities regularly is one of the keys to achieving optimum health.

There are all-natural remedies like L-Carnitine being widely resorted to nowadays. In some studies, this amino acid has been found to help enhance exercise performance and adherence.

This natural healing ingredient is widely obtained today through supplementation. L-Carnitine has been found helpful in boosting energy levels and this is helpful for exercise performance and adherence. This remedy is also essential for athletic performance, in addition to the various therapeutic benefits it offers.
