(Newswire.net — June 29, 2022) Orlando, FL — For many people around the world, having children is a realization of their dreams. Unfortunately according to research, it may potentially be disadvantageous, especially for heart health.

According to the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) study, there is an association in between having children and the heightened risk of heart disease.

This study tracked over 8,000 women from across the United States for more than 30 years. The researchers have found that the more children a woman has, the more susceptible she is to suffer from heart disease, strokes, and heart failure in later life.

Researchers reveal that in the study findings, it has been shown women with five or more kids were more likely to have a heart attack, stroke, or heart failure than women with one or two children by 26 percent.

It is theorized that during pregnancy, a woman’s body usually makes certain adjustments. These include an increase in belly size and heart, which grows by nearly 12 percent by the end of the nine months.

This has been found to aid in dealing with the 50 percent increase in the volume of blood that has to be sent around her body. These are huge changes that reflect big demands put on a woman’s body while pregnant. All of these changes have long-lasting effects.

A study involving over 200,000 British men revealed that those with four or more children were more susceptible to having heart disease than men with fewer children.

Scientists still continue to carry out studies to see how having children affects heart health. However, it remains true that heart disease is highly preventable. As a matter of fact, there are proven ways to ward this condition off.

Experts have long been strongly recommending adherence to a healthy diet, which can deliver a range of therapeutic effects. Intake of healthy foods like fruits and vegetables has been found to be effective in delivering nutrients that are particularly beneficial for the heart.

One of these nutrients is magnesium, which is a widely studied macromineral.

In a decade-long study that looked into cardiovascular disease research lasting for more than 70 years, it has been found that reduced magnesium levels contributed more to heart disease than cholesterol or even saturated fat.

Experts suggest that in various studies, it has been found low magnesium levels are correlated with cardiovascular disease risk factors like high LDL cholesterol, low HDL cholesterol, high blood pressure, and metabolic syndrome.

There are many interesting things to know about the link between magnesium and heart health. This macromineral is also found to ward off many other diseases.
