(Newswire.net — July 20, 2022) Orlando, FL — Migraines are not at all uncommon, and there are even many who are unable to work some days due to the condition. Scientists are even increasingly researching the various aspects of this type of headache.

One study was carried out and published in the Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences.

In this research, the investigators were able to identify a potential mechanism for the cause of migraine. This could actually shed light on why women tend to get it more than men.

The research has particularly shown that certain sex hormones could impact cells around the trigeminal nerve and connected blood vessels in the head. Further, the estrogens — at their highest levels in women of reproductive age – were found to be particularly important for sensitizing these cells to migraine triggers.

The findings have led researchers to suggest it is a promising new route to personalized treatments for migraine patients.

“We can observe significant differences in our experimental migraine model between males and females and are trying to understand the molecular correlates responsible for these differences,” explains Professor Antonio Ferrer-Montiel.

Ferrer-Montiel is from the Universitas Miguel Hernández, Spain who worked with his team to review decades of literature on migraine sensitivity, sex hormones, and cells’ responses to migraine triggers to identify the role of specific hormones.

“Although this is a complex process, we believe that modulation of the trigeminovascular system by sex hormones plays an important role that has not been properly addressed.”

It is worth noting that some hormones like testosterone appear to offer protection against migraines. There are also others like prolactin that could worsen the condition. Estrogen has been found to stand out as a key candidate in understanding the occurrence of migraine.

Years of research have shown that there are actually many remedies helpful for migraine relief. These include certain B vitamins, which have long been used for preventive health purposes.

Some B vitamins have been found by studies to offer migraine relief. In a research review, it has been found that riboflavin worked in lessening the frequency and duration of migraine attacks.

The findings of this research were published in the International Journal for Vitamin and Nutrition Research.

There are many other studies highlighting the therapeutic benefits of these nutrients. Today, supplements like Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex are being widely reported to by health-conscious consumers.

It contains Choline, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and vitamin B6 (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07414752B).
