A Study Highlights Warning Signs for Dementia Found in the Blood

(Newswire.net — September 12, 2022) Orlando, FL — The scientific community has long been carrying out studies to look into the different aspects of neurodegenerative diseases like dementia.

One study reveals that the warning signs of dementia can be found in the blood. The investigators have discovered that levels of some microRNAs are indicative of cognitive decline risk.

This research was carried out by investigators from the DZNE and the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG). They were able to identify molecules in that blood that indicate impending dementia.

The findings of this interesting study were published in the scientific journal called EMBO Molecular Medicine.

It is based on human studies and laboratory experiments involving various university hospitals across Germany and involved research by the team led by Prof. André Fischer.

It is worth noting that the biomarker is based on measuring levels of microRNAs. This method is not yet suitable for practical use, and this is why researchers aim at developing a simple blood test that can be used in routine medical care to assess the risk of dementia.

“When symptoms of dementia manifest, the brain has already been massively damaged. Presently, diagnosis happens far too late to even have a chance for effective treatment. If dementia is detected early, the odds of positively influencing the course of the disease increase,” says André Fischer.

Fisher is a research group leader and spokesperson at the DZNE site in Göttingen and a professor at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at UMG.

“We need tests that ideally respond before the onset of dementia and reliably estimate the risk of later disease. In other words, tests that give an early warning. We are confident that our current study results pave the way for such tests.”

An increasing number of studies highlight the various aspects of brain health and the remedies potentially helpful in warding off dementia. It is worth keeping in mind that making dietary and lifestyle modifications have been found particularly helpful for the brain.

It may also be wise to consider the use of therapeutic kitchen ingredients like lion’s mane, which has neuroprotective, cardiovascular-health enhancing, anti-inflammatory, cognitive-decline-fighting, nerve repairing, blood-pressure-lowering, immunity-boosting, cholesterol-regulating, and weight management properties.

In some studies, the use of lion’s mane led to brain health improvement and protection, especially against dementia.

Today, it is used widely through the use of formulas like Divine Bounty Lion’s Mane. This amazing formula is made carefully in an FDA-inspected facility in the U.S. and is known for its high potency and purity. (https://www.amazon.com/Organic-Lions-Mane-Mushroom-Capsules/dp/B07LGR1KN7).
