Research Highlights a New Strategy in Battling Osteoporosis

(Newswire.net — September 21, 2022) Orlando, FL — Health authorities have long been revealing some remedies potentially helpful in protecting bone health. Today, more and more people suffer from an extremely common age-related bone disease called osteoporosis.

Estimates warn that one in three women and one in five men aged over 50 years have osteoporotic bone fractures.

According to experts, osteoporosis is caused by excessive activity of bone-resorbing cells and the reduction of bone-forming cells.

In healthy people, it is found that a balanced activity of these two cell types encourages constant bone turnover to maintain healthy and strong bones. In osteoporosis, it is found that disproportionate bone resorption results in low bone mineral density.

Further, it consequently leads to weak and fracture-prone bones. It is worth keeping in mind that when new bone formation fails in catching up with bone loss, it eventually ends up in the weakening of bones. It could also result in the bones becoming more prone to fractures.

It is worth noting that the most current osteoporosis therapies include bisphosphonates, which can block the activity of bone-resorbing cells. This means that they work in preventing excessive bone resorption.

However, it is also important to stress that prolonged treatment with these medications gets rid of necessary bone turnover. This, according to experts, results in an increased risk of fracture as well as other side effects.

Professors Christoph Winkler (Department of Biological Sciences, National University of Singapore, NUS) and Manfred Schartl (Biocenter, Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, JMU, Germany carried out a study to develop new strategies in fighting osteoporosis.

Such a study also aimed at overcoming the limitations of current bone health treatments.

The results have been published in the journal PNAS.

In this research, it’s found that a small protein called chemokine CXCL9, under osteoporotic conditions, works in diffusing towards reservoirs that hold bone resorbing cell precursors. Such protein may help protect the bone from osteoporotic insult.

Studies looking into the various aspects of bone health continue to pile up. Time and again researchers recommend making dietary and lifestyle improvements to maintain bone health and protection.

It is also recommended to take into account the use of all-natural remedies like glucosamine, which is popularized by its cartilage-repairing abilities. This amino sugar has long been studied due to its medicinal benefits.

VitaBreeze Glucosamine is a popular choice nowadays, and it continues to receive more and more positive reviews from consumers. Aside from being highly potent and pure, it also has other arthritis-fighting ingredients namely chondroitin, MSM, and turmeric. (http://www.amazon.com/Glucosamine-Chondroitin-Turmeric-Dietary-Supplement/dp/B00DUMO9X4)
