(Newswire.net — October 3, 2022) Orlando, FL — Studies looking into the various aspects of antibiotic resistance continue to pile up. Experts have long been strongly warning against antibiotic resistance, which is a rapidly growing global health issue.

Researchers carried out a study and highlighted the relevance of basic personal hygiene, such as hand washing. This was after finding substantial levels of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in wild bird feces at areas close to the River Cam in Cambridgeshire, England.

The findings of this research were published in the Journal called Ecology and Evolution.

It was carried out by researchers from scientists from Anglia Ruskin University (ARU).

It has particularly shown the presence of the potentially dangerous Pseudomonas bacteria in over a fifth or 21 percent of the samples collected.

In this study, the investigators looked into 115 swabs of wild bird feces obtained from around the River Cam over a two-year period. It is worth noting that the fecal swabs were obtained from locations half-a-mile of the riverbank along a 10-mile stretch of the river in and around Cambridge.

Of the 115 samples, it has been found that 24 contained Pseudomonas bacteria. It is worth mentioning that pseudomonas are a large group of bacteria that are present in the environment. Some of them are actually linked with animal and human disease.

Experts have long warned that higher rates of pseudomonas bacteria are normally correlated with disease outbreaks in animal populations.

“We know that antibiotic resistance is a global issue that will continue to worsen if no action is taken. The COVID-19 pandemic has further accelerated the emergence of resistance due to the overuse of antibiotics. Therefore, it is extremely important that everyone follows medical advice about when to take medication and for how long, in order to preserve their effectiveness,” said Lead author Joana GC Rodrigues,

Rodriguez is Associate Lecturer in Life Sciences at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU).

Antibiotic resistance rates undeniably soar, but it cant also be denied there are certain measures found helpful in fighting it.

Some therapeutic remedies like the use of D-mannose could be helpful. It is not a secret that today, the increasing rates of antibiotic resistance is fueled by the misuse or overuse of the medication, in the attempt of the many to address issues like urinary tract infections.

In reducing the risk of infection, the need for antibiotics may also be lessened or reduced. D-mannose has long been studied on due to its remarkable effects in treating and preventing UTIs. (www.amazon.com/D-Mannose-600mg-Cranberry-Dandelion-Extract/dp/B01LX5KGF0)
