(Newswire.net — October 19, 2022) Ste 177 Winnetka, IL, IL — Scientific studies have time and again shed light on the various aspects of hormonal health. These include prevalent conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which continues to affect more and more women worldwide today.

PCOS is now found to increase the risk of Type 2 diabetes. This is according to large-scale epidemiological research called the Australian Longitudinal Study of Women’s Health.

It was spearheaded by Professor Helena Teede and Dr. Anju Joham, from the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University.

In this research, more than 6000 women between the age bracket of 25 and 28 years were monitored for nine years including 500 with diagnosed PCOS. It is worth noting that the incidence and prevalence of type 2 diabetes were higher in women with PCOS by three to five times.

It is further worth stressing that obesity – a key trigger for type 2 diabetes – was not an essential trigger in women with PCOS.

“Type 2 diabetes itself is preventable, as are diabetes complications, but only if people at risk of or who have diabetes are screened, aware and take preventative action,” Professor Teede said.

“With the dramatic rise in diabetes, this research highlights the need for greater awareness and screening, especially in high-risk groups including young women with PCOS.”

The female subjects were aged 25 to 28 in 2003, and they were tracked over 9 years until the age of 34 to 37 years in 2012. These are the peak reproductive years when diabetes left undiagnosed could have substantial risks for mothers and babies.

“Our research found that there is a clear link between PCOS and diabetes. However, PCOS is not a well-recognized diabetes risk factor and many young women with the condition don’t get regular diabetes screening even pre-pregnancy, despite recommendations from the Australian PCOS evidence-based guidelines,” she said.

Scientists are increasingly looking into the techniques potentially helpful against PCOS. It is worth noting that there are all-natural ingredients studies have found to be useful, and one is ashwagandha.

It has long been used in Ayurvedic medicine and is now being widely studied by researchers. According to experts, this remedy is particularly helpful in lessening weight in obesity-associated PCOS.

Due to its ability to lessen stress-related weight gain by reducing cortisol levels, it helps in weight management. It is worth noting that stress has a strong influence on overeating and weight gain.

It is also important to mention that ashwagandha is particularly known for its ability to help balance hormones. To benefit from its effects, formulas like NutraHerbals Ashwagandha are widely available today (www.amazon.com/organic-ashwagandha-root-powder/dp/B01GZALWGO).
