Research Warns Insomnia May Increase Risk of Brain Aneurysm

(Newswire.net — October 20, 2022) Orlando, FL — Over the years, researchers have been stressing the relevance of maintaining adequate sleep. This is due to the fact that sleep deprivation increases the risk of certain diseases.

Unfortunately today, many are struggling with sleep issues like insomnia.

A study has shown that insomnia may potentially be a risk factor for a brain bleed due to a ruptured aneurysm, along with already identified risk factors of high blood pressure and smoking.

The findings of this research were published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, an open-access journal of the American Heart Association.

It is worth noting that over 3 percent of adults around the globe have unruptured blood vessel malformations in the brain otherwise known as intracranial aneurysms, the majority of which will never rupture.

Further, around 2.5 percent of intracranial aneurysms will rupture, and this leads in a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), also called a brain bleed. Experts say that this type of stroke called SAH  occurs when a blood vessel on the surface of the brain ruptures.

When this happens, bleeding occurs in the space between the brain and the skull.

“Ruptured aneurysms are highly fatal. It is, therefore, extremely important to identify modifiable risk factors that can help prevent aneurysms from rupturing,” said study author Susanna C. Larsson, Ph.D.,

Larsson is an associate professor in the unit of cardiovascular and nutritional epidemiology at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden, and the unit of medical epidemiology at Uppsala University in Uppsala, Sweden.

“Our research supports the thinking that risk factors that people can change or manage may impact brain aneurysms and hemorrhage risk. Once confirmed, future studies should examine ways to incorporate this knowledge into prevention programs and therapies,” added Larsson.

Today, scientists are increasingly studying the remedies potentially helpful for sleep improvement. It is worth noting that getting adequate sleep leads to a myriad of positive health outcomes.

There are sleep remedies like the use of lion’s mane recommended by experts. This medicinal and edible mushroom has long been studied due to its remarkable healing benefits.

It’s been found to have neuroprotective, cardiovascular-health enhancing, anti-inflammatory, cognitive-decline-fighting, nerve repairing, blood-pressure-lowering, immunity-boosting, cholesterol-regulating, and weight management properties.

Some studies have shown it works in enhancing sleep quality and quantity. What makes it all the more beneficial is that it also has brain health benefits.

It may be obtained through the use of extra-strength formulas like Divine Bounty Lion’s Mane, which is known for its high potency and purity (http://www.amazon.com/Organic-Lions-Mane-Mushroom-Capsules/dp/B07LGR1KN7).
