(Newswire.net — November 11, 2022) Orlando, FL — Depression has long been studied by researchers due to its high prevalence. Experts have long been warning against this mental health issue and have been investigating its link with other health issues.

A study was carried out and published in CJASN.

In this research involving adults with normal kidney function, it has been found those with frequent depressive symptoms were at an increased likelihood of a rapid decline in kidney function later in life.

Among middle-aged and older adults, depression has been found to be quite common. There have been studies revealing that this issue is linked with other mental and physical problems.

The research was spearheaded by Xianhui Qin, MD (Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University, in China). The investigators looked into information on 4,763 individuals with healthy kidneys at the time they enrolled in the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS).

It is worth noting that at the start of the study, it has been found 39 percent of the subjects experienced high depressive symptoms. During the median follow-up of four years, 260 participants or 6 percent experienced a rapid decline in kidney function.

There was also a significant link in between depressive symptoms at the beginning of the study. The investigators also found a rapid decline in kidney function during follow-up.

“CKD is a leading risk factor for cardiovascular disease, kidney failure, and mortality worldwide. Therefore, the identification of more modifiable risk factors may possibly reduce the huge burden of CKD and its related complications by leading to early detection and prevention,” said Dr. Qin.

While the study did not exhibit causality, it also showed high depressive symptoms were significantly linked with a rapid decline in kidney function. This was observed among Chinese adults with normal kidney function.

“If further confirmed, our data provide some evidence for depressive symptom screening and effective psychosocial interventions to improve the prevention of CKD,” Dr. Qin added.

Today, experts are increasingly recommending some remedies helpful in fighting depression. There are many antidepressant measures like engaging in physical activities and following a healthy diet.

There are even nutrients like B vitamins found to be particularly helpful in enhancing overall mental health. Some studies suggest these nutrients work wonders in fighting depression and anxiety. It is further worth noting that B vitamins may also produce kidney health benefits, in addition to their other disease-fighting effects.

These therapeutic nutrients may be obtained through the use of Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex. It contains Choline, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and vitamin B6. (amazon.com/dp/B07414752B).
