Exercise Found To Be a Preventive Measure Against Cartilage Damage

(Newswire.net — November 21, 2022) Orlando, FL — The scientific community has been highlighting studies that reveal exercise is generally beneficial for health and improved management of arthritis symptoms. However, unfortunately, many are unable to follow an exercise routine.

A study from the Queen Mary University of London has shown that exercise aids in preventing the degradation of cartilage triggered by osteoarthritis.

The researchers were able to show for the first time how mechanical forces encountered by cells in joints during exercise prevent the degradation of cartilage. This is believed to happen through suppressing the action of inflammatory molecules which cause osteoarthritis.

The findings of this interesting study were published in Osteoarthritis and Cartilage journal.

It is worth noting that during exercise, the joint cartilage is quashed. When the living cells in the cartilage detect this mechanical distortion, it leads to the blockage of the action of inflammatory molecules linked with diseases like arthritis.

The investigators revealed that this anti-inflammatory impact of physical activity is caused by the activation of a particular protein, called HDAC6. It is important to stress that HDAC6 triggers changes in the proteins that form primary cilia.

There are certain pharmaceutical drugs that block HDAC6 activation and this means they prevent the anti-inflammatory effects of physical activity. There also other drug treatments were able to mimic the benefits of exercise.

“We have known for some time that healthy exercise is good for you — now we know the process through which exercise prevents cartilage degradation,”  said Mr. Su Fu, a Ph.D. student at Queen Mary University of London and study author.

Professor Martin Knight, lead researcher of the study also added that the findings may also explain the anti-inflammatory effects of normal blood flow in arteries which is important for preventing arterial diseases such as atherosclerosis and aneurysms.

Today, more and more experts strongly recommend remedies helpful for arthritis management. These include the use of glucosamine, which the body utilizes to build and repair joint cartilage.

It has anti-inflammatory benefits that work in relieving pain, and this is why it is widely used today as a safer alternative to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

It is worth noting that while glucosamine naturally occurs in the body, its levels drop as people get older. When its levels decline, it contributes to joint deterioration.

The use of superior-strength supplements like VitaBreeze Glucosamine is widespread nowadays, especially by arthritis sufferers. This triple-strength supplement contains 1500mg Glucosmaine, 1000mg Chondroitin, 600mg MSM, and 300mg Turmeric for optimal joint health (https://amazon.com/Glucosamine-Chondroitin-Turmeric-Dietary-Supplement/dp/B00DUMO9X4)
