Research Highlights the Heart Benefiting Effects of Dairy

(Newswire.net — November 29, 2022) Orlando, FL — There are undeniably many ways to protect and enhance heart health. Diet has long been particularly important in warding off cardiovascular ailments.

Researchers carried out a study and found that individuals with higher intakes of dairy fat had a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease than those with low intakes. It is important to note that higher dairy fat intakes were not linked with increased death risk.

The investigators then combined the results of this research in just more than 4,000 Swedish adults with those from 17 similar studies in other countries. This creates the most comprehensive evidence to date on the link between this more objective measure of dairy fat intake, risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), and death.

“Many studies have relied on people being able to remember and record the amounts and types of dairy foods they’ve eaten, which is especially difficult given that dairy is commonly used in a variety of foods,” said Dr. Matti Marklund who carried out the study.

Dr. Marklund is from The George Institute for Global Health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Uppsala University.

“Instead, we measured blood levels of certain fatty acids, or fat ‘building blocks that are found in dairy foods, which gives a more objective measure of dairy fat intake that doesn’t rely on memory or the quality of food databases,” he added.

Dairy and dairy product intake in Sweden is among the highest around the globe. This international collaboration between scientists in Sweden, the US, and Australia evaluated dairy fat consumption in 4150 Swedish 60-year-olds.

It was done so by measuring blood levels of a certain fatty acid, which is mainly found in dairy foods. Therefore it can be used to reflect the intake of dairy fat.

“We found those with the highest levels actually had the lowest risk of CVD. These relationships are highly interesting, but we need further studies to better understand the full health impact of dairy fats and dairy foods.”

There are many foods found to be particularly helpful for heart health aside from dairy. These include the medicinal mushroom called lion’s mane, which is loaded with a myriad of therapeutic agents.

Research has shown that the intake of lion’s mane leads to cardiovascular health benefits. Today, it is obtained widely through the use of formulas like Divine Bounty Lion’s Mane. It is popularized by its high potency and purity and is used for preventive health purposes (http://www.amazon.com/Organic-Lions-Mane-Mushroom-Capsules/dp/B07LGR1KN7).
