(Newswire.net — November 30, 2022) Orlando, FL — Covid-19 has unfolded many undesirable life and health changes worldwide. There have been many studies suggesting that it also caused a surge in sleep disorder rates.

A study was carried out and published in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine.

This research has found that between April and May 2020, there was a significant surge in the number of online search queries for “insomnia.”

In the United States and around the globe, stay-at-home orders have been implemented as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The findings have shown there were 2.77 million Google searches for insomnia in the U.S. for the first five months of 2020. The increase was 58 percent when compared to the same period from the previous three years.

The surge was particularly found to surge upward in April and May 2020. Such an increase was also linked to the number of Covid-19-related deaths that were cumulative in the spring.

“I think it’s safe to say, based on our findings as well as those from survey studies showing an increased level of insomnia symptoms in certain populations, that a lot of people were having trouble sleeping during the first months of the pandemic,” said lead author Kirsi-Marja Zitting.

Zitting has a doctorate in physiology and neurobiology and is an instructor in medicine and associate neuroscientist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

The investigators analyzed U.S. and global data between Jan. 1, 2004, and May 31, 2020.

According to experts, insomnia is characterized by trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. It also involved waking up more regularly than desired.

There are daytime symptoms linked with insomnia like sleepiness or fatigue, sleep dissatisfaction, feeling depressed, concentration trouble, and anxiety.

The study authors were supported by funding from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine Foundation, the President and Fellows of Harvard College, the William F. Milton Fund of Harvard University, and the National Institutes of Health.

Insomnia is undeniably common today and this is bad news considering that sleep deprivation could wreak havoc on immune system health. Experts have long been stressing the significance of healthy immunity to combat the dangerous effects of Covid-19.

Various studies have time and again shown that intake of certain nutrients like B vitamins could work wonders in enhancing sleep. Over the years, researchers have been stressing the relevance of maintaining B vitamin levels to achieve sleep quality and quantity.

Formulas like Divine Bounty B Vitamin Complex could be an excellent choice for individuals who want to enhance their sleep.

It contains Choline, Pantothenic acid, Biotin, Vitamin B12, Folic Acid, Niacin, Riboflavin, Thiamin, and vitamin B6.
