Research Sheds Light on the Amounts of Caffeine Found To Trigger Migraines

(Newswire.net — December 2, 2022) Orlando, FL — More than one billion adults around the globe suffer from migraine, which is the third most prevalent illness in the world. There are many triggers of this condition and these include certain beverages.

A study has shown that the consumption of one to two caffeinated drinks is not associated with an increased risk of migraines. However, three or more may trigger it.

Migraine comes with severe headache plus other symptoms, such as mood changes, nausea, sensitivity to sound and light, as well as visual and auditory hallucinations.

Individuals suffering from migraine usually report sleep disturbances, weather patterns, hormonal changes, medications, stress, and certain food and beverage triggers.

The study was carried out by researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (HSPH).

Its findings were published in the American Journal of Medicine.

The investigators have particularly found that among individuals who experience episodic migraine, there was no association between one to two servings of caffeinated drinks and headaches on that day.

However, three or more servings of caffeinated beverages may be correlated with the increased odds of migraine headache occurrence on that day or the following day.

“While some potential triggers — such as lack of sleep — may only increase migraine risk, the role of caffeine is particularly complex, because it may trigger an attack but also helps control symptoms,” said Elizabeth Mostofsky, ScD, who spearheaded the study.

Mostofsky is an investigator in BIDMC’s Cardiovascular Epidemiology Research Unit and a member of the Department of Epidemiology at HSPH,

“Caffeine’s impact depends both on dose and on frequency, but because there have been few prospective studies on the immediate risk of migraine headaches following caffeinated beverage intake, there is limited evidence to formulate dietary recommendations for people with migraines.”

Scientists have long been studying migraines and the remedies potentially helpful in alleviating their symptoms. It is important to note that there are actually all-natural remedies found to be helpful, and these include L-Carnitine.

Some studies suggest that L-Carnitine combined with another all-natural remedy was effective for episodic migraine prevention. There are actually many benefits associated with its use, and this is why today it is obtained through supplementation.

Divine Bounty L-Carnitine is one of the most powerful supplements today, and this is due to the fact that it is highly potent, pure, and of superior quality. This remedy has long been used for weight management and other health purposes (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XF7K9MM).
