(Newswire.net — December 6, 2022) Orlando, FL — Stress levels have been found to increase more significantly ever since the pandemic hit. There are many undesirable health issues associated with stress that experts continue to warn against.

A study has shown that stress triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic caused irregular menstrual cycles. It is the first study in the U.S. to assess the effects of stress on people’s periods.

This new Northwestern Medicine study was published in the Journal of Women’s Health.

The researchers looked into more than 200 women and individuals who menstruate in the United States between July and August 2020. It was for the purpose of better understanding how stress during the pandemic influenced menstrual cycles.

It’s been found that 54 percent or more than 54 percent of the individuals in the study experienced changes in their menstrual cycle in starting March 2020, which was when the Covid-19 pandemic spread worldwide.

Subjects who suffered from higher stress levels during the Covid-19 pandemic were at an increased likelihood to experience heavier menstrual bleeding. They also had a longer duration of their period compared to those with moderate stress levels, the study found.

The study title is “Impact of Stress on Menstrual Cyclicity During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Survey Study.”

“We know added stress can negatively impact our overall health and well-being, but for women and people who menstruate, stress can also disrupt normal menstrual cycle patterns and overall reproductive health,” said lead and corresponding author Nicole Woitowich.

Woitowich is research assistant professor of medical social sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

“Reproductive health should not be ignored in the context of COVID-19,” Woitowich said.

“We are already seeing the ripple effects of what happens when we fail to consider this important facet of women’s health as many are now experiencing menstrual cycle irregularities as a result of the COVID-19 vaccines or COVID-19 infection.”

There are many factors affecting stress levels that experts warn against. There are also many remedies found to be helpful in lessening stress. These include the use of an edible medicinal mushroom called lion’s mane.

In multiple research studies, it’s been found to have neuroprotective, cardiovascular-health enhancing, anti-inflammatory, cognitive-decline-fighting, nerve repairing, blood-pressure lowering, immunity-boosting, cholesterol-regulating, and weight management properties.

It could be an excellent choice for individuals who are trying to increase their protection against chronic stress.

Divine Bounty Lion’s Mane could be an excellent choice. This highly potent and pure formula is made carefully in an FDA-inspected facility in the U.S. according to strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines (amazon.com/Organic-Lions-Mane-Mushroom-Capsules/dp/B07LGR1KN7).
