A Study Reports Link Between BPA Exposure and Autism

(Newswire.net — December 7, 2022) Orlando, FL — Scientists are increasingly warning against exposure to toxins and disease-causing chemicals, such as bisphenol A (BPA).

A study has even shown a link between exposure to BPA and autism spectrum disorder.

The findings of this research were published in Autism Research.

It is the first to report a link between BOA and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in children. BPA is a common plasticizer that is used in a wide variety of consumer food and beverage containers.

It was carried out by researchers at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM) and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS).

“It has been suspected for a lot of years that BPA is involved in autism, but there was no direct evidence,” said T. Peter Stein, of RowanSOM and the study’s lead author.

“We’ve shown there is a link. The metabolism of BPA is different in some children with autism than it is in otherwise healthy children.”

The research team included Margaret Schluter and Robert Steer, of RowanSOM who was responsible for laboratory analysis. They also worked with child neurologist Xue Ming, of NJMS who recruited and ascertained the study populations.

Ming examined urine specimens taken from 46 children with ASD and 52 healthy control children for both free BPA and total BPA concentrations.

BPA like many chemicals actually becomes water-soluble when it is bound to glucose in the liver, which is a process called glucuronidation. It is important to note that conversion to glucuronide and then its excretion in the urine is actually a major pathway for the removal of toxins from the body.

“Other studies involving rodent data have shown that BPA functions as an endocrine disruptor, but ours is the first to show this in humans and the first to associate it with autism,” Stein said.

“The observations show that for some children there was a relationship between intermediary metabolism, the ability to conjugate BPA and symptoms of autism.”

Today, scientists are also investigating remedies like activated charcoal that may have body-detoxifying benefits.

Activated charcoal is a widely-studied, all-natural remedy today. Its highly porous surface serves as a magnet to toxins and chemicals. It is even widely used in hospital emergency rooms as an antidote for drug toxicity and food poisoning.

There are many uses for this all-natural remedy such as body detox, teeth whitening, and digestive health issue relief. It is obtained widely today through the use of highly potent and pure formulas like Divine Bounty Activated Charcoal (https://www.amazon.com/Organic-Activated-Charcoal-Capsules-Whitening/dp/B071NZ5G56).
