Times 10 Publications is helping teachers respond to rapid transformation in digital teaching and learning with their recently released professional development books.

At the forefront of Times 10 Publications’ digital learning collection is Shelly Sanchez Terrell’s ‘Hacking Digital Learning Strategies: 10 Ways to Launch EdTech Missions in Your Classroom.’ Shelly Sanchez Terrell is an International EdTech presenter and an NAPW Woman of the Year, and she is one of the United States’ leading authorities on the meaningful integration of technology in the classroom.

Her book’s release coincides with the profound growth of technology use in the classroom. As the latest figures from McKinsey showcase, 71% of US students are now using laptops in the classroom, with the personal saturation of handheld devices and other technology also at an all-time high for children and teenagers in America.

However, as Times 10 Publications’ digital learning book makes clear, just because technology has entered the classroom does not mean it is being used effectively. As Shelly Sanchez Terrell explains, most teachers are using technology, like laptops, as a simple replacement for old pen and paper tools or as a communication distribution system. (And, worst case, teachers may find that technology is only being used in their classroom as a tool of distraction.)

In doing so, they fail to make the most of technology and fail to harness its radical transformative, engaging, collaborative, divergent, and creative-thinking promoting abilities.

Shelly Sanchez Terrell understands that such radical changes to the learning experience require support, which is why the bulk of her book is given over to structured activities that teachers can implement in their own classroom, including a 38-page EdTech mission that can be distributed directly to students.

‘Hacking Digital Learning Strategies: 10 Ways to Launch EdTech Missions in Your Classroom’ is now available in paperback and as a digital download.

The book forms a part of Times 10 Publications’ HACK Learning Series and is joined by a curated selection of books on digital and project-based learning from leading experts.

Times 10 Publications said of the book, “Shelly Sanchez Terrell demonstrates the power of EdTech Missions-lessons and projects that inspire learners to use web tools and social media to innovate, research, collaborate, problem-solve, campaign, crowd fund, crowdsource, and publish.”
