Kary Sit stands as one of the rare oddities of the universe. One might ask, “is she on medication or does that come naturally?” She has so much distaste for you, wanna throw up when she sees you. And yes, she loves you too. Born in Macau to a Portugese-Chinese family, she is the very definition of the internationally confused. She was raised everywhere: Macau, Hong Kong, Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, Seoul, and then some. This borderless lifestyle shows in her stylings as a singer-songwriter-producer, and as a performer. If you are wondering what a truly globalized culture looks like, look no further. It is no coincidence that Kary really doesn’t care if she is singing in English or Chinese, or if her realities are constantly shifting. Sometimes, you will see two of her. Sometimes, maybe even more! You don’t need to travel to see the world – just go and see Kary Sit.
The release of the “DISTASTE” project is not just a music or video release. LIQ, in collaboration with KCS Entertainment, are unleashing Kary Sit into the world. First stop LA, next stop, global. Kary Sit (Singer, Songwriter, Music Producer) is the President of KCS Entertainment and works across the board as a Music Producer, Singer, Songwriter, Composer, and Music Engineer. She started out her music career at the age of 14 and has worked with Grammy-award winning musicians such as Ted Greenberg and Kevin Irving. She is one of the few Asian female powerhouses of the global music industry. She has worked with Blast! Entertainment Management, Kirv Music in Los Angeles, EastAsia Entertainment, Clot Media Division, Warner Chappell Publishing, and Peer Music Publishing in SouthEast Asia, NMG record label in China, Universal Music Publishing in South Korea, and is a member BMI.
Jen Yu (Creative Director, Video Producer) is Creative Director of LIQ, a Media Development company. She graduated from the California Institute of the Arts in Experimental Animation. She has Art Directed for The Walt Disney Company and Parks Canada’s National Historic Sites. She has been involved with The Getty Institute, and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE). Her first film, “Heartbeat”, was nominated for a Leo Award for Best Production, screened at The Canadian Film Centre Worldwide Short Film Festival, Featured at PBS Asian Heritage Month, the Los Angeles Short Film Festival, the Festival des Cinemas Differents de Paris, and has screened in Academy-Qualifying Festivals such as the Rhode Island International Film Festival, to name a few. Her recent film, “My Life As Cherry” (2009), premiered at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival in France.
