Congressional candidate Michel Faulkner announced a set of bi-partisan endorsements today in a press conference at Melba’s Restaurant in Harlem. The New Era Democrats, a progressive organization that supports good ethics in government, and Newt Gingrich’s American Solutions are among over two dozen Democratic and Republican leaning organizations and community leaders that have endorsed Faulkner in recent weeks.

Gingrich, a strong supporter of economic initiatives, is backing Faulkner over the embattled incumbent, Charles Rangel. “The economy is under attack from the Obama Administration,” stated Gingrich, “we need people like Rev. Faulkner in Congress to fight for small business owners who are the job creators of America.” According to Rev. Faulkner, he and Gingrich “share a passion for small business development and job creation. We both believe that protecting the American Dream and passing it on to our children is the ultimate key to serving the American people.”

“For far too long our government has been doling out miniscule welfare and public assistance checks that do little other than make my people slaves to the government,” said Faulkner. “The answer is jobs. We need to create jobs right here in upper Manhattan and throughout America that will break the cycle of dependency.” Faulkner also unveiled Jobenomics, an economic plan to produce 20 thousand new jobs in Harlem by 2020. “That’s 20 thousand people working to earn a paycheck, not standing in an unemployment line, waiting for a handout,” stated Faulkner.

New Era Democrats founder Mary Sansone stated, “Michel Faulkner is exactly the man we are looking for in the House of Representatives. He stands strong for the people of New York and will represent them truthfully. We are proud to be endorsing his candidacy in New York’s 15th District Congressional seat.”

Faulkner appealed to voters, “I am a man of actions. I ask the voters to examine the last 25 years of my life, which I have dedicated to the people of New York City.” Faulkner currently serves as founder and pastor of New Horizons Church in Harlem and has worked as a community leader for more than 20 years.

Other endorsers of Faulkner for Congress include a group of 40 local pastors, the Frederick Douglass Foundation, the Jobenomics Movement, National Right to Life, New York Right to Life, the Republican Party of New York State, and the Libertarian Party of New York State.
