(Newswire.net — February 22, 2013) Neptune, NJ — While most 9 year old girls spend their time with dolls, going to dance class and playing computer games, Cassandra Ferguson is determined to make a name for herself in the publishing world.
The precocious fourth grader decided she wanted to not only write a children’s book but make it a best seller in the process. She wasn’t going to settle for just becoming an author on Amazon… oh no, she wanted to become a bestselling author on Amazon in the process.
When asked why she decided to write a children’s book, Cassandra explained, “I love to write stories and since my dad is an author, I thought it would be a great idea to write a book together.”
They worked on the concept for the book and it took only eight days from start to finish to put it together and release it on kindle. Her first book, entitled “Cute Dogs Picture Book – My Favorite Pictures Of Cute Dogs” was inspired by a poster of Labrador Retriever puppies she keeps on her bedroom wall. This is where she got the idea for her Cute Dogs Picture Book series.
She had so much fun writing the first book that she finished off a second one a week later called “Another Cute Dogs Picture Book – More Of Our Favorite Pictures Of Cute Dogs” and released the two of them together
The first book has reached #43 in the pets category on kindle but she isn’t satisfied with that. She is determined to do what she can to make it into a bestselling book and that means finding unique ways to get the word out about her creations.
She’s already working on the third volume in the series and has also learned how to do the marketing for the books. With her father’s help, she designed a flyer to take to school where she sold copies of the book to both her classmates and teachers. Excited by her new found success, she expanded her marketing to the girls on her soccer team, her dance class, her local church and anyone who has a dog.
What has Cassandra learned about the process of writing and publishing a book on Amazon? She replied, “The writing part was easy. It’s a lot harder trying to sell it.”
Having the determination to succeed is just one of this young lady’s endearing qualities as she attempts to become one of Amazon’s kindle ebook success stories. Like her dad says, “When Cassandra wants something bad enough she will do anything to get it and that is what will make her dream come true.”
