(Newswire.net — March 6, 2013) HUNTINGTON BEACH, California — Parents and children in Huntington Beach and Irvine have a new summer camp option: LePort’s new Camp for Life program. The summer camp runs for 9 weeks at LePort Schools Huntington Pier and Irvine Spectrum campuses, and is open to all students entering 1st through 8th grade this fall, whether they are enrolled at LePort Schools, other private schools, or local public schools.

“LePort’s private school program, Knowledge for Life, focuses on helping children acquire the knowledge, skills, and strength of character every child requires for successful adult living,” explains Jane Erickson, Executive Director for Upper Elementary and Junior High programs.  “Our summer camp program, Camp for Life, focuses a different need: what specific life path will a given child choose, and how can we help him discover that path? LePort’s Camp for Life can be thought of as a practicum in passion-finding.”

The most successful, happy adults are those who find a passion they can transform into a career, who discover some activity or pursuit that they can become exceptionally good at, and which they relish—in the words of Ken Robinson, those who discover their element, the “place where the things you love to do and the things you are good at come together.”

“LePort’s Camp for Life is designed to help a child take a step on the path towards finding his ‘element’”, says Heike Larson, Vice President of Parent Outreach. “Our summer camp programs are designed to let children try out new interests, engage a bit deeper in nascent passions, and apply their general capacities to particular areas that call to them.”

The 24 summer camps offered cover a range of topics, form Backyard Biology to a Young Makers camp, from Economics for Life to Art Studio: Design and Techniques, from Short Stories: Creating Creativity to Beats: Dance Camp.

Summer camp enrollment is now open to students enrolled at LePort; applications from outside students will be accepted beginning March 15th. Parents interested in learning more can visit the summer camp web site, at www.LePortSchools.com/camp-for-life, where they can download a full summer camp brochure, as well the summer camp application. They can also attend the OC Family Summer Camp Fair at the Irvine Spectrum on March 23rd, where LePort’s summer camp team will be available to answer questions.
